The Colonial Collection consists of 1/12 scale wood kits of the best examples of the works of early Colonial cabinetmakers. These country craftsmen developed a style of furniture that is still popular today.
Kits designed by : John R. Adams
Originally in Brookfield, Connecticut, Shenandoah Designs, Inc. designs were clearly similar to The House of Miniatures designs, but several of their 16 or so kits were more "country" furnishings than Colonial period designs. Shenandoah, like The House of Miniatures before them, eventually sold out to Houseworks Ltd. Because they did not add copyright dates to their materials, I've been unable to pinpoint the dates of the designs, but the company operated from May 1983 through 1993 out of Brookfield Office Park. Houseworks Ltd took it over at the end of 1995. A few of the kits can still be found in the Houseworks catalog.
