Shenandoah Designs 13002 Tester Bed - Chippendale Collection

A tall canopy-style bed, rope supports, likely used with a horse hair mattress. Circa 1750- 1780.

The Chippendael Collection consists of 1/12 scale wood kits of some of the best examples of the designs of the Colonial furniture master Thomas Chippendale.

Originally in Brookfield, Connecticut, Shenandoah Designs, Inc. A few were clearly similar to The House of Miniatures designs. Shenandoah, like The House of Miniatures before them, eventually sold out to Houseworks Ltd. Because they did not add copyright dates to their materials, I've been unable to pinpoint the dates of the designs, but the company operated from May 1983 through 1993 out of Brookfield Office Park. Houseworks Ltd took it over at the end of 1995. A few of the kits could still be found in the Houseworks catalog as late as 2020.
